Day 10 - Liping 50 kms - Feeling good !

We left our lovely Dong village to the sound of chanting schoolchildren and cycled our way back up the steep newly made concrete road we'd come down the day before - I walked stating the need for a carbon friendly morning !

A descent back to the roads turnoff point thankfully allowed us to remove our backpacks and return them to our support vehicle and our cheerful driver - most grateful was one V Sandler who'd carried her 10kgs of lollies up and back !

From here it was a magic descent with "flat" power riding to our morning coffee point with everyone buzzing  except poor Mel an Aussie girl, who fell over for the 5th time trying to decleat - a common issue for those new to wearing cycling shoes !

With word going around of a horrfic climb ahead we were rapt to finally summit and descend to our last rest point only 9 kms shy of Liping

Andrew used the opportunity to impersonate road kill by lying on the road which was described by self at the time as having the same comfort and consistency as our Chinese beds !

On the outskirts of Liping we reassembled to ride  together through the big city (everything in China is) to our lunch stop just across the road from our hotel for the evening (an early day)
The lunch provided included an amazing array of never ending chinese vegetable courses topped off by a nearby walk by some to plunder ice cream (a rareity on trip so far)

Our early finish allowed the group to walk around the old section of town and nearby markets after checking into our pretty luxurious hotel

The fab 5 and friends outstayed most of the group at night and engaged in a highly strategic game of UNO under the auspicies of Fair Gaming Australia (Jacquie) after some mutterings about the variable rules applied when losing by one well know redhead last time read.
5 days of cycling done and some more big challenges ahead !
